Bedale church bazaar beats 1988 by £500

St. Gregory’s Church, Bedale, Christmas Bazaar on Saturday raised about £500 more
than last year, with an expected profit of £2,369 for the church restoration appeal.
The Rector,  Canon Malcolm Emmel, welcomed Mrs Jennifer Rooum,  wife of the officer
commanding RAF Leeming, who opened the bazaar and was presented with a basket of
flowers by Sarah Thomas.
Stalls were run by members of the church and church organisations in the Chantry Hall,
where coffee was served by Mrs Liz Thomas and helpers and the Mothers’ Union served lunches
and cream teas. St. Gregory's shop sold items suitable for gifts and souvenirs. The children’s
grotto was organised  by Mrs Margaret Hirst in the old grammar school, where children of the
Sunday School and the Brownies had games.   Father Christmas was so busy he had to stay
an extra half hour.
Visitors were given conducted tours of the belfry and invited to try ringing the handbells.

And here's the list of the stall takings!
